Into the New World

Choreography for male K-pop groups tend to be more elaborate and dynamic than routines for female groups.  However, the choreography for Girls' Generation's "Into the New World Remix" shows that female groups can perform elaborate dance moves. The routine diverges from their later choreography, often performed in heels.  The group used the remix as an opportunity to showcase more synchronized and elaborate dance moves, with a focus on arm movements as well as a greater use of the space on the stage through multiple positions and shifting groupings of the members.

Into the New World Cover Dances

Cover dance teams who perform Girls' Generation's "Into the New World Remix" range in age and ability, but all demonstrate a passion for the routine.  Unlike the cover dances for EXO's "Growl," these cover dance teams focus on the precise synchronized movements, and styling to a certain degree. Because the original choreography did not feature unique camera work, these performances focus on the dance iteself.

Some dance teams perform the choregraphy as part of dance cover competitions.  The Girls was awarded "Best SNSD Cover Group" at SM Town Fest: Cover KON 2013 for its performance.  The team styled the members in coordinating outfits reminiscent of the outfits worn by SNSD and reflected the precise movements of the original choreography.  The performance by Since* is also part of a cover dance competition, while the videos by Sones Generation and zSoshie 5G represent entries into cover dance competitions.

Other dance teams perform in public.  VNGs give no description of the setting of its performance, but it is clear it is for a public audience.

Still other dance teams represent the inclusive nature of K-pop cover dance.  Grupo Dolls Peru are a cover dance group from Peru, a hub for K-pop interest and activity outside of Korea.  H.Y.O Dance Team is co-ed. While K-pop cover dance teams are often co-ed, it is rare for a dance team that covers a dance by a female group to be co-ed.
