TWICE: Essentials
TWICE is a nine-member female group that debuted in 2015, along with girl groups CLC and Oh My Girl as well as boy groups Seventeen and Day6. Their sound is described as "quirky" and "upbeat," "[blending] many genres in an attempt to create a unique style for the group. While based in bubblegum pop, their high-energy singles have also been influenced by electronica, hip hop, jazz rap and numerous other sounds" (Herman).
Like other artists on at JYP Entertainment, the group's sound is shaped by the label's founder, Park Jin-young, aka "The Asiansoul." Other K-pop artists, including Wheesung, Bibi and Heize, have contributed to TWICE's music production. Unlike other K-pop groups, promotional tracks resonate more with fans compared to deep cuts.
