Red Velvet is a five-member group that debuted in 2014, along with groups such as Mamamoo, Sonamoo and Lovelyz, GOT7, Akdong Musician and solo artists Crush, Heize, Taemin and Zico. Red Velvet is known for its dual concept that also characterizes its music: "a slower, R&B-based sound ('velvet') against catchy pop music ('red')" (Glasby).
Red Velvet's music production often involves Kenzie, veteran in-house creative personnel at SM Entertainment, as well appearances by producers outside of Korea.
